(James 1:19-21) “19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:  20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.  21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.”

Some time ago, I don’t remember just when (maybe about 2 years), and try as I may, I can’t remember who handed me a list of 13 questions and asked me to answer them with scriptures.

I did as I was asked, and I’ll pass them on to you.  Just use that “Ole Common Sense” and then let me know if I passed the test, or if I failed.  I would really like to know.

  1. Is the Bible the inspired word of God from Genesis 1:1 to Revelations 22:21? 2 Timothy 3:16-17. 2 Peter 1:3.
  2. Are there “times” or “circumstances” when we are allowed to change the instructions given in the Bible? Deuteronomy 4:2.  Deuteronomy 12:32.  Proverbs 30:6.  Revelations 22:19.  Galatians 1:6-7.
  3. Is the Bible the final authority?  2 Peter 1:21.
  4. Did God forgive the world (mankind) of sin and then Christ came and shed His blood—or did Christ shed His blood and after His blood was shed God granted forgiveness?  Hebrews 10:4.  Matthew 26:28.
  5. Do we have inspired men today?  Who are they?
  6. Do we need any other books or further instructions other than the Bible to obey and serve God acceptably?  Jude verse 3.
  7. Which group has the most authority to speak for God—Catholics with the Pope, or the Mormons with 12 apostles?  1 Corinthians 4:6.  1 Peter 4:11.
  8. Is baptism for a person before he is saved from past sins, or after his is saved from past sins?  Acts 22:16.
  9. Will there be a final judgement day?  If so, by what will we be judged?
    1. What we believe?
    2. What our parents taught us?
    3. What our preacher taught us?
    4. What the majority believes?  John 12:48.  Revelations 20:12.
  10. If there is a final judgement day, will some be lost who sincerely believed all their lives that they were going to be saved?  Matthew 7:21.  Matthew 15:9.  
  11. Will God forgive or accept a dishonest person?  Matthew 5:8.  2 Corinthians 13:5.  Matthew 23:27-28.
  12. What kind of danger (if any) is a person in who does not “love the truth”?  2 Thessalonians 2:10-11.
  13. If a man came to hear you preach, and you preached Christ and Him crucified, and the man really believed in his heart that He is the son of God, and after the sermon he asked,  “Now what should I do to receive forgiveness?”
    1. What would you tell him?
    2. What should he do?
    3. What would the Lord do?  Acts 2:38
